As one of the oldest charter schools in the state of New Jersey, Elysian has much to be proud of — outstanding facilities, excellent teaching staff, and most of all, a thriving student population.
None of this would have been possible without the families, friends, and businesses that have contributed to the progress and development since our inception in 1997, a little more than 20 years ago.
The next 20 years… Friends of Elysian now looks ahead towards maintaining our school’s long-term sustainability and financial stability.
2017 saw the completion of the third and final year of the Campaign for Elysian, the biggest financial undertaking Elysian has ever embarked upon. The Campaign’s total three-year goal was $500,000, which we surpassed by an amazing $77,000! And most importantly, Elysian Charter School is thriving in its new home at 1460 Garden Street.
That said, our work is not done, and we need your help!

The state of New Jersey does NOT assist charter schools with capital or facilities funding. | |

Elysian, on average, receives only 65% of per pupil funding, compared to Hoboken Public School District. | |
|
More than 50% of the funds raised each year by Friends of Elysian are immediately reinvested into the school through an $80,000 grant to cover basic facility and operating costs. | |
We need your help to fill this significant financial gap. The success of the Annual Appeal will ensure that Elysian has the funds needed to continue delivering educational excellence for every one of its 288 students.
How are these funds used? Each year, these funds assist in the procurement and implementation of vital school programs and services, such as:
• New public address and security system
• Ongoing and increased utility, facility, and maintenance costs
• Expanding the middle school science program
• New Chromebooks
• New Bridges math curriculum for K–5th grade students
• Support for reserve fund for emergency situations
